Another popular recipe of North India made of paneer, spicy and creamy curry with peas and cottage cheese.
Matar Paneer (Mutter Paneer), a delicious combination of soft paneer and healthy green peas in a mildly spicy tomato based gravy, is a treat to taste buds at any time. This simple matar paneer recipe makes irresistibly tasty curry by making some changes to its preparation
Ingredients:
Green Peas/Matar - 1 cup
Paneer/Cottage cheese - 250 gm
Lal sabut mirch -1
Green chilli -1
Onions - 2
Tomato Puree - 1 cup
Garlic - 6-8 buds
Ginger - 1 tsp crushed
Salt - as per taste
Cream - 0.5 cup
jeera - 1 tsp
Kashmiri Mirch - 1 small tsp
Garam masala - 1 small tsp
dhaniya powder - 1 small tsp
Meat Masala / Tandoori Masala / Curry Masala - 1 tsp
Sugar - 0.5 tsp
Let's begin with step by step preparation of the recipe:
1. Grind the garlic, green chilli and onion together, also adding some water to the paste.
2. Now in a pan heat some oil(take mustard oil for better taste, cook the oil, add some salt until it leaves its strong smell), add jeera, ginger and sabut lal mirch.
You can also add tez patta, black peppercorn, dal chini and badi eliachi as coarse masala to add more flavour to the oil.
2. Once the ginger is soft, add the onion green chilli paste and cook
3. Once cooked and the onion turns brown, add tomato puree, all the masala and green peas and cook until the masala crumbles and starts leaving oil.
4. Add some water and cook.Add kasuri methi.
5. Add cottage cheese/ paneer and let the gravy boil until the quantity/consistency you require.
